Just in Time for Easter: Stella McCartney’s Second Line for GapKids
Stella McCartney’s new line for boys, girls and infants just arrived at Gap stores. The line is cute and colorful, although not exactly budget priced. A sun dress is $58.00. As with the previous Stella collections, the girls line owes much to vintage styles, with drop waist shirts and some Edwardian style dresses. The boys collection features cute ink spot print style tees and plenty of bright colors. The collection is for boys and girls from 0-6 months to 13 years that captures the essence of a perfect childhood summer wardrobe. Stella McCartney says, “For this second collection I wanted to design pieces that ensure your child looks like an individual with their own style statement, a mixture of simple minimal styles and more detailed pieces to create a summer wardrobe for all your kids’ needs.”
One interesting piece in the collection are the Meat Free Mondays t-shirts. Meat Free Mondays (MFM) is a campaign to go vegetarian on Mondays, even if you don’t eat Veggie the rest of the week. The initiative was started by the Macca family: Sir Paul, Mary, Stella and brother James. Click through to hear Sir Paul sing his Meat Free Monday tune and give his message on You Tube.
Website Treehugger reports that the MFM shirt design features a superhero (available for boys and girls) on an organic cotton t-shirt and is available in select stores in the UK. Stella describes the Meat Free Monday (MFM) campaign as, “taking control of the environment we live in for our kids and the generations to come. Whether you eat meat or not, you can be part of this decision to limit the meat industry destroying our planet’s resources.”
Overall, the line is adorable and very age appropriate. Its available at select Gap stores and online, so get it while you can. The last Stella line sold out. I might have to get my niece one of the cute vintage style dresses.
Several of the girls dresses are already sold out in size XXL, leading me to believe some older fashionistas maybe ordering them for themselves. I suspect this one, the crochet dress above, has some junior sized shoppers doing the Carla Bruni, and snatching up the Stella for GapKids.
