Kardashian Kollection Gets Cheaper But Not More Chic at Sears

The Daily Mail spotted Kardashian Kollection on clearance at Sears

Last week I attended a holiday party.  One of the attendees cheerfully told me she was wearing a dress from the Kardashian Kollection  at Sears that she got for a mere $9.99!  Although its hard to beat a $9.99 price on a party dress,  I’ve never been a big fan for the Kardashian fashion lines.  And I’m not alone.  After researching the sales of the Kardashian Kollection at Sears , it seems consumers are passing on this “fast fashion” line bearing the double KK branding with it’s body conscious styles.  AdWeek  and the Examiner both report that sales of the Kollection at Sears have plummeted to new lows with discounts from 40% to 50% even on new merchandise.   With good looking and affordable fashions from designers Catherine Malandrino at Kohl’s and Phillip Lim at Target, the mystery is why anyone would want to spend at Sears on Kardashian Kollection.  No wonder consumers are passing on this krappy kollection.

Visitors to Sears stores may notice heavily marked down racks of Kardashian Kollection during this holiday party season. But are low prices enough to lure consumers in this competitive market? I think not.   According to AdWeek, even Black Friday sales in the past haven’t boosted the Kardashian Kollection sales. “Rolled out in 400 stores in August 2011, the line failed to attract shoppers (even on Black Friday) and hasn’t kept Sears from posting losses each quarter since, ” notes AdWeek.

Right now the new holiday party offerings in the Kardashian Kollection are not on sale on Sears.com.  Most of the holiday dresses are on sale for $79.00.  That’s a high price for a polyester holiday party dress compared to the $19.99 offerings from retailers like H&M.  Stay tuned to see if those prices for Kardashian holiday wear drop on Thanksgiving, Black Friday and then Cyber Monday.  What do you think readers? Is a $9.99 price tag enough to make you want to buy Kardashian Kollection?

Update: As of January 2014, many of the 2013 KK holiday party collection dresses are on sale at Sears.com for as low as $14.99.
