Melissa McCarthy Clothing Line on Sale at HSN
The eagerly awaited Melissa McCarthy fashion line is now on sale at HSN. A few pieces from the collection are now on sale at the HSN website. The entire collection is set to debut as “Melissa McCarthy Seven7” during a special live appearance on August 13th from 1-3pm and 9-11pm, during HSN’s popular fashion program, ‘The List with Colleen Lopez’. I checked out the preview this morning online and I have to say, I’m disappointed based on the appearance of the clothing. The fit may be super, but the colors are drab and nothing is a “must-have” fashion stand-out. I expected more from FIDM attendee Ms. McCarthy. However, perhaps in time, this collection will expand and improve. See what you think over at the HSN website. Ms.McCarthy’s line is available in both plus and missy sizes. Sizes for Melissa McCarthy Seven7 range from 4-28. Plus sizes are 1x to 3x and 16w to 24w. Despite earlier reports about various retailers carrying the line, HSN now claims they will be the only national retailer carrying Misses sizes, aside from McCarthy’s own website.
So what can you expect from the Hollywood Funny Lady turned Fashion Designer? Lots of oversized tops, sweaters and kimonos paired with slim skirts and pants. This is exactly how Ms. McCarthy has been dressing at events and on the Red Carpet for some time. I don’t see any dresses or anything body conscious in this collection. According to HSN there are 26 styles in the Melissa McCarthy August Collection. The most interesting thing about the collection, to me, is the claim that all denim “features special technology that provides four key fit features: a slimming panel; back lifting darts; forward seam details; and a contoured waistband.” So the fit on the denim might actually be very slimming and comfortable, you’ll just have to order it on HSN or McCarthy’s website to find out.
I love Melissa McCarthy’s comedy and warm personality (which I’ve only experienced by watching her interviews on TV) but I can’t say I love this fashion line. At least not the sneak preview on HSN. It’s drab. There’s so much grey, black and white. Where’s the color? The joy of fashion? The distinctiveness? I’ve seen Melissa look better on the Red Carpet in ASOS CURVE plus clothing.
Pricing for the Melissa McCarthy clothing line on the HSN website ranges from $59.00 for a T-shirt to $159.00 for a kimono. The jeans are priced at $89.00. The jeans are very affordable compared to other retailer’s prices, but $59.00 for a T-shirt ( that is nothing special) or the drab kimono seems way out of line. What do you think readers?
