American Apparel Headed Towards Bankruptcy & Offering Deep Discounts

By  |

The Los Angeles Times reports that fashion retailer American Apparel, made in Downtown Los Angeles, is heading towards bankruptcy and an auction.   Around the US and the UK, the brand is closing stores. Meanwhile, their website is offering a very tempting 40% off sale on everything.   I’ve always liked American Apparel, I just haven’t shopped there in a while because I felt that their prices were too high for the quality of the goods offered and honestly, they’ve run some rather tasteless adverts in the last few years that have been off putting to say the least. Even more tasteless than their adverts (with crotch shots and the slogan “now open”) was their ill timed Hurricane Sandy sale.

Their online sale is a good chance to pick up the “sweat shop free” apparel at great discounts.  The American Apparel sale offers denim, outerwear, hoodies, bodysuits and even some great velvet dresses and jumpsuits that might work for New Year’s Eve. The brand’s popular Unisex Circle Scarf is now just $14.00.  Use code TAKE40 to get the discount at checkout.  Here’s a few of our curated picks from the sale. The Cabernet Duster Coat is one of our favorites reduced from $120.00 to $72.00.
