The Recessionista Round-up: Fashion Week in Review

Pictured: My eco-friendly, arty birthday card by my friend and artist Lynn (LCKDesigns).  All the pieces are from old greeting cards, refashioned into one new one.

Don’t you love this piece of fabuless art? I’m showing off the Birthday art my talented friend line made for me from old greeting cards.  Isn’t it adorable? I love that she took the time to make it.  It’s so special, and so adorable.  Beyond the Birthday greetings, it’s been a big week of fashion news.  Here are a few highlights for all of you to take in on Friday, along with a great big TGIF from yours truly! 🙂

The Gap launched a new CDF collection at their Fifth Ave. “Concept” store. Works from Monique Péan, Patrik Ervell and Sophie Théallet some of the most celebrated, emerging designers in the industry, represents the fourth consecutive collection born from Gap’s partnership with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF) and will be available exclusively on New York City’s 5th Ave. at Gap’s rotating concept store.  I wish I could be more happy about this one, but c’mon Gap, I love NYC, but how about a little CFDA Limited Edition collection  for the rest of us? Click here to see pictures from our friends at Racked NY.

Kenneth Cole has designed a limited edition t-shirt with the slogan: WE WANT YOU… YOU’RE SO REPEALING. (DON’T ASK. DON’T TELL). In response to President Obama’s pledge to work with Congress and the military to end “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” The Human Rights Campaign has launched a national campaign to organize veterans, generate media coverage and target key states that will be critical to repeal the discriminatory law.

Pictured: Kenneth Cole’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Tee makes a statement.

The limited edition T-shirt will be sold at Kenneth Cole New York stores nationwide as well as Kennethcole.com and hrc.org. The shirt retails for $35.00 with 100% of net proceeds going to the AWEARNESS FUND and HRC.

Airport Chic: Sarah Jessica Parker showed some great traveling style at the airport in Japan in this week’s edition of People StyleWatch.  Check it out.

She looks like a million, in her favorite Nicholas Kirkwood sandals with a belted leather A.L.C. blazer and fedora.

New Look is having a super summer sale featuring discounts on one of my favorites, Giles Deacon Gold.
Check out some of the gorgeous pieces from the sale. I have my eye on the Lurex Knit Cardigan.

Pictured: Only online, Gold By Giles is 40% off at NewLook.com.

I also love the feminine rosette pieces in their summer collection.  Very Valentino inspired without the couture prices.  When I’m in the UK, I always check out New Look style.  When home in the US, I order online.
Definitely worth a look!

Pictured: Check out New Look’s Summer Blush collection.  I love the feminine roses on the tops, shoes, headbands and dresses.

That’s all the news for now! 🙂 TGIF.
