Keep uses Instagram to Sell Trendy Fashion Items
It was only a matter of time before someone thought of curating a shopping community based on Instagram favorites. And now that community is here. Enter the Keep community. Keep is using Instagram, one of the fashion industry’s favorite showcases for trends – shoppable on Keep. Keep is aggregating items that users love on Instagram and offering them of sale on the Keep website. This is a great idea, since women who shop typically love Instagram and sharing their finds on social media.“We started Keep to give consumers a web-wide product discovery platform, curated by the people, not merchants or manufacturers,” said MaryAnn Bekkedahl, President of Keep. “And it turns out the most fashionable people – fashion media, influencers, celebs – are curating their favorite products on Instagram, where no one can do anything but drool. I saw people’s frustration that on the closed Instagram platform, they can’t tell where the products are from or of course, link out to buy. And I thought, ‘Hey- Keep can do all that! We can make Instagram shoppable for everybody!’ So we have.”
So what kind items can you expect to find on The Keep website? Many are items that celebrities have posted on their Instagram feeds. Things like actress Emmy Rossum’s Rebecca Minkoff Clarissa Dress . Or Nicole Richie’s new clutch. Celebrity sells and the Keep is banking on that by presenting the latest trends from style influencers such as Lauren Conrad, Rachel Zoe, Alexa Chung, PeaceLoveShea, and more. What do you think readers? Do you love Instagram and look to buy items that friends and celebrities post there? If so, the Keep just might be for you.
