In a city where it’s all about entertainment, designer Cheryl Koo put on an entertaining and unconventional fashion show to kick-off LA Fashion Week. This was no runway show, but a performance featuring dancers, including Ms. Koo at Supperclub  in Hollywood.  The show was all in basic black,  Los Angeles’ most popular color. At the end of the show, Ms. Koo stepped out from the line of dancers to take her designer bow.  That’s something that you’d never see at New York Fashion Week, where designers are not part of the show, but merely step out for a final bow.  This collection for FW14 is called “Back to Black.” The show was designed to catch the audience’s attention with the models dressed almost like ninjas with covered faces, wearing gas masks and carrying teddy bears.

For Fall 2014 CM2K Collection has put together “Back to Black” a fusion of past work from Cheryl Koo collections.  The collection is designed to show off an edgy street style with a cozy couture feel.  The fabrics in the collection are a mix of luxury textiles, including lamb leather and silk, with snake and alligator print and a “castle-like” embossing to compliment the comfort and “wear-ability” of black cotton fleece.

This collection isn’t for everyone, but  sans the ninja/samurai gimmicks there are some interesting pieces.  The leather “Anti-prom” bodice dress with the full quilted skirt is a novel take on the little black dress with a goth touch.  Other looks include leggings, lux hoodies and oversized tops .
