Saving on Fashion, Travel, Gifts & Home with Clipix

The new Clipix service

Recently a new savings tool was announced called Clipix.  Naturally, this has been on The Recessionista’s Radar System since its announcement.  Clipix is a free web service that  allows you to bookmark items you want to buy and then come back to them when prices drop.  You can use Clipix to save web content, pictures, Excel files, Word documents or PDFs on to private or public clipboards that you can then can share with family and friends.  The service is similar to Hukkster in that it lets you bookmark items by dragging a “clip” button onto their browser bar.  You bookmark items, then check later to see if prices drop.  

Here are some reasons you might want to check out Clipix for saving : 
1.       TRAVEL
Clipix works like a personal travel agent, allowing users to set up price alerts for items like airplane tickets and hotel rooms. When users clip a link, Clipix sends an alert through email and on their Clipix account when the price changes. Multiple airlines and hotel chains can be clipped, allowing travelers to compare price changes over periods of time.
2.       GIFTS
Users can make Clipboards for items they know their friends and relatives desire.  For example, parents can have a Clipboard called “Holiday Presents for the Kids.”  The Clipboard can be shared with the entire family and each of these items can have their own Price Drop Alert so you can start purchasing when the cost is what you’d like to spend.  Right now, I’m setting up a Clipix Clipboard for Father’s Day Gift Ideas to monitor ideas and potential gifts.
3.       HOME IMPROVEMENTS
If you decide to do a renovation project by yourself, chances are you’ll need to purchase tools and supplies.  Users can keep a Clipboard with different items–by using the Clipix Price Drop Alert, they will be notified when the price of the product that they clip falls below a certain price or percentage.  All they need to do is clip the product, set a price and Clipix will do the rest.  The Price Drop Alert can also be used for chairs, tables or any product they add to a Clipboard.
4.       BUYING A HOUSE OR CAR
Clipix users can even use the Price Drop Alert when buying life changing items such as houses or cars.  Real estate and car prices get dropped like every other item.  You can be informed when the price of your “dream car” drops to an amount your comfortable with paying.
5.       CLOTHING, ELECTRONICS AND EVERYDAY NECESSITIES
Whether buying items such as jeans or a flat screen television, Clipix can help you save money on any purchase by setting a Price Drop Alert when you Clip the item.  This feature is actually great for the economy—we’re more likely to purchase something if we feel like we’re getting a “deal.”

6. ITEMS FROM THE DR. OZ SHOW:  If you’re like me, everytime you watch Dr. Oz you are tempted to buy the latest immunity booster or fat burner that he mentions.  There is already a Clipix board set up on the Dr. Oz show items, so you can join it and follow to get deals on items he recommends.
