Peanuts Fashion: Snoopy Heads to New York Fashion Week in 2014
Some unlikely fashionistas will appear at New York Fashion Week this September, Snoopy and his sister Belle. These characters from Charles Schultz’s beloved Peanuts comic strip have made the fashion scene before. In the 80’s many famous designers including Diane Von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar De La Renta, Giorgio Armani, and Norma Kamali designed creations for Snoopy and Belle. This year, a retrospective of those fashions along with new creations will be shown Sept. 8th in New York and entitled, “Snoopy & Belle in Fashion.”

That’s a lot of Snoopy! But if you ask Peanuts fans, there can never been enough Snoopy! I know from running Snoopy T-Shirt giveaways here on The Recessionista how popular Snoopy fashion items can be.
Some of fashion’s top names are participating in the upcoming exhibit of Sept. 8th, including Anna Sui, Diane Von Furstenburg, Betsey Johnson, DKNY by Donna Karan, Calvin Klein Collection, Christian Siriano, Costello & Tagliapietra,
Isabel Marant, J Mendel, Rodarte, Emanuel Unargo, Phillip Treacy, Tracy Reese and Zac Posen. Cosmetic company MAC Cosmetics will also be involved in making Snoopy and Belle ready to return to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
If you’re a Peanuts fan, look for the exhibit at the Sky Room in the New Museum in New York City during Fashion Week on September 8, 2014. After the New York event, Snoopy & Belle in fashion will go on tour. There will be international exhibitions in 2015 that include the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and other locations in Milan, Tokyo, and more. I’ll be attending the exhibit as part of my New York Fashion Week coverage, so watch this space for updates.
