Last week I had the privilege of seeing one of the most beautiful fashion shows at New York Fashion Week of this or any other season, Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2015 collection.  The collection was inspired by the “color code of a flower.”  The show featured stunning gowns, beautiful coats and brightly colored sheath dresses.   The color palette was vibrant pinks, iris blues, majestic purples, paired with gray tones and soft yellow.  As always, Carolina Herrera’s garments were distinctly feminine, with gorgeous appliqués and soft folds.  Some of the garments featured digitized blooms (see the dress above.)   The show was attended by the cream of New York society, celebrities and of course Vogue’s Anna Wintour.  Little green trees lined the runway, giving the appearance of an elite garden party.   According to the Daily Mail, Ms. Herrera’s Spring 2015 show may have cost as much as 1 million dollars.

Other collection highlight included a parrot tulip pigment printed linen dress, techno jersey pants with a vibrant pink silk gazar top, pique dresses with techno details and a pixelated foam rose embroidered gown.

To see more of the Carolina Herrera Spring 2015 collection, watch the show video. This was a spectacular show. It’s not often you see the editor of Vogue, Anna Wintour running down the runway after a fashion show to get backstage, but that’s exactly what happened when the show ended, after Ms. Herrera took her final bow.  This show will influence all of spring fashion from budget retail to upscale couture.
