Princess Kate’s Pink Coat: Splurge or Save?
Like Princess Diana before here, Kate Middleton now the Duchess of Cambridge is the perfect ambassador for British fashion. Last week in New York, she looked comfortable and chic in Mulberry’s Double Breasted Coat of Cerise Wool Silk Double Crepe which retails for £1,500 or over $3,000 US. Since Princess Katherine was photographed in the stunning hot pink coat, I’ve had a few emails from readers wondering how to get the look for less. Here’s The Recessionista’s splurge or save take on similar hot pink winter coats. We found a range of similar styles for considerably less than the pricey and now sold-out Mulberry coat that Kate wore.
Depending on how much you want to spend you can find a good looking hot pink coat priced from $75.00 to $500.00 to keep you warm this winter. If you love the hot pink/fuschia pink color, then Kohl’s has a coat from their Jennifer Lopez (J Lo) line that has the great color for just $75.00. The coat isn’t double breasted, but it has an attractive high-collar and metal zippers for accents.
A more expensive coat, but one more similar in style to the Mulberry pink coat is Shoshanna’s Anette Coat. The coat is double breasted, with an empire waist and decorative pockets. It’s priced at $309.00 and is a blend of wool and acetate. It’s a cute coat with a gorgeous round collar.
My final pick is a splurge for over $500.00, but it’s still less than the Mulberry coat. The Nevia Stand collar belted wrap coat from Ted Baker London at $525.00 is a gorgeous coat with high collar to keep you warm. The fabrication is a warm 70% wool, 20% polyamide, 10% cashmere. If you love pink, this is a coat you should be able to invest in and wear for several seasons.
What do you think of a pink winter coat readers? These are coats with personality and plenty of color warmth for winter style.
