New York Fashion Week: Banana Republic Spring 2016
Banana Republic presented their Spring 2016 collection yesterday at New York Fashion Week. The collection offered apparel for both men and women designed by Timo Weiland, Donna Kang, and Alan Eckstein in collaboration with Marissa Webb and Banana Republic as part of Banana Republic’s collaboration with the CFDA. OK. Banana you had me at Timo Weiland! This presentation was broadcast on social media yesterday via Periscope to a very enthusiastic fan reception. In my opinion, this collection is something you can wear from the office to well, virtually anywhere. There were suits, separates and some gorgeous pink dresses. As the workspace becomes more casual, you don’t see much precision tailoring in office wear unless it’s from a luxury brand. One of the Banana Republic Spring 2016 collection standouts was a cocktail dress in coral red. We also loved the peplum dress in a soft pink/lavender. The baby blue trench coat for winner is another winner.
I can’t wait to check all these items out on the racks at Banana Republic and go shopping! As Timo Weiland told Elle Magazine, ” As a brand, Timo Weiland has a modern prep-meets-street aesthetic that is very upbeat and fun. This translated seamlessly into a cool combination with Banana Republic, a classic American staple.” I have to agree, the collection is very modern street prep and it works very well as a collaboration. I think Banana Republic shoppers will agree.
Another thing we love about this Timo Weiland Banana Republic Collection is it is made in America. That’s right, the limited collection Banana Republic Timo Weiland Spring 2016 Collection is designed, cut and sewn exclusively in New York. There’s nothing better than fashion show at New York Fashion Week made in New York City!
