Handbag Splurge or Save: Chloe and Target Styles

The expensive Chloe cross body bag is similar to a much cheaper bag at Target.

Have you ever seen a low priced handbag that reminds you of a higher priced designer handbag?  Designer handbag replicas production is of course big business and Target has never been shy about being inspired by designers.  Remember their legal skirmishes with Diane Von Furstenberg over wrap dresses and Coach over handbags?   If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Chloe must be very flattered by some of the bags in Target’s Who What Wear line.   One of the handbags reminds me of the Chloe dress cross leather bag.

Both bags have a “curb” chain for shoulder carry, gold hardware, a fold over top and and oval shaped body. The Chloe Drew bag is goat skin.  The Target bag is pleather.  Is there a passing resemblance here? What do you think?  The price differential is stunning, with the Chloe bags retailing for over $1, 700 US, a small Chloe “Drew bag” retailing for over $1,200 and Target bag retailing for a fast fashion price of $29.99.  Which bag would you choose readers?
