Designer Kenneth Cole has been innovative in raising awareness for current issues we should all care about, like “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” Now he has turned his talents to trying to help clean-up the Gulf Oil spill with his “I Clean Up Well” Tees available now on Facebook.  Props to Kenneth Cole for this timely social media campaign to his large Facebook group and beyond. All of the net profits will be donated to aWEARness, The Kenneth Cole Foundation…which will support clean-up efforts in the Gulf of Mexico. At the Facebook site customers can mix and match 12 slogans, 14 colors and various graphic designs to create their own design. Click here to check it out.  The Tees are $35.00.

Threadless has also launched an attractive Tee with a sad image of a Pelican covered in Oil. The initiative called peliCAN will benefit the  Gulf Restoration Network a 15-year-old environmental nonprofit organization committed to uniting and empowering people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf Region for future generations.  Check out this image, it’s chilling.

The design is a collaboration between Threadless community member Frederik Wepener of South Africa and Threadless’ own Ross Zietz.   This amazing Tee is only $10.00. Click here to check it out. Threadless has a great record raising money for Haiti via their T-shirts. It’s wonderful that they put this together so quickly.

Of course, buying a Tee shirt is not the only way to help. There are a number of organizations who are reaching out to help.  Remember you can always donate to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund or the Gulf Restoration Network.  I am already giving.  My Uncle had a beautiful house off the coast of Alabama. I hate to think what the water there is like now. I’m sure that seafood is no longer plentiful at the Wolf Bay Lodge where we used to go for dinner. It’s going to take a long, long time to clean up this mess.
