Christian Siriano’s Fall 2010 Collection is Chic, Fierce and Classic
Powered by several delicious Starbucks skinny frappuccinos, I survived the crowds today to make it to a few shows at Bryant Park. The journey was well worth it. The Christian Siriano’s Fall 2010 runway collection kicked off today with a rock n’ roll vibe. The first piece to walk the runway was this beautiful Leather Zip Front Jacket (pictured above) with slim wool pencil skirt. It set the tone for the whole show. The silhouettes were classic and the materials were the finest. Cashmere and wool coats, jersey fitted dresses and turtlenecks were the order of the day. Although some of Christian’s trademark ruffles were still in evidence, there were not many. The restraint that Tim Gunn tried to subtly show him on Project Runway has clearly taken hold. There were updated little black dresses that Chanel would be proud of and brilliant organza blouses with textured skirts. The show finale was a beautiful organza pink evening dress that deserves to be seen on the red carpet as soon as possible. Check out a few more pictures from Christian’s line.
In all, Christian showed 36 pieces with a classic look plus just a little rock n’ roll edge thrown in. The crowd glimpsed him for only one second as he did his trademark wave while running from behind the curtain, and then darted back behind it quickly. If you blinked, then you missed it his boyish wave. Overall, quite an impressive show from a designer in his early 20’s. Bravo Christian! Next time stay out front and enjoy the applause with the crowd for a minute. You deserve it.
Stay tuned tomorrow, as I will review last season’s Project Runway winner’s Irina’s collection. Her collection is inspired by Amelia Earhart, so I can’t wait to see that.
