Class and Flash: Actress Valorie Curry’s Simple Elegance vs Carrie Underwood at the CMAs

Actress Valorie Curry walked the red carpet at last weekend’s Beverly Hills Fashion Fest in an understated look that reminded me of the young Jean Seberg.  I’m getting a little jaded about celebrity style having attended quite a few fashion shows and Hollywood events. Many stars hire stylists, but all too often they end up looking like a hot mess in clothes that are out of touch with fashion reality, over done make-up and dare I say it, inflated lips or frozen brows.   So, it was a refreshing change to see the young actress Valorie Curry (star of The Twilight Saga and the forthcoming Breaking Dawn) looking gorgeous in a subtle look that proved less really is more.  I loved her gray wrapped silk jacket  with stylish little black dress underneath and simple necklace. She was wearing the look, it was not wearing her, or overwhelming her.  I hope we see more of this simple elegance on the red carpet, and less flash n’ trash.  Ms. Curry was styled by Ebony Campbell.

I think the Country Music Awards might want to talk to Ebony next year.  Did you see anything you really loved at tonight’s CMA awards dear reader?  I was underwhelmed to say the least. What was going on with Carrie Underwood and those dreadful knickers that were styled as “black capri pants? ”  And don’t even get me started on the Georges Chakra ivory pleated tulle ballerina dress that Carrie wore later on the show (see above.)  Jesus Take the Fashion Wheel! Take it from her hands….she can’t do this on her own.  This look is not cheap, and it’s certainly not chic.
