Coming up: Norma Kamali Holiday Collection at Walmart and an eBay Collection

Good morning readers! I’m here on “storm watch” in Los Angeles surveying the fashion deals. For those of you who don’t know, if we get a few sprinkles of rain in California,we are officially on “storm watch.” So what to do? Stay off the freeways, drink coffee and see what Norma Kamali’s been up to. I had some mail from readers yesterday letting me know that the NK all in one top was recently shown on the Wendy Williams show, and that you loved the look. So good news, more affordable NK designs are on the way.

First up, the new NK Holiday collection is ready and I got a little sneak peak. Above are the party dresses. The Walmart NK Holiday collection will feature a v-neck flared black dress, a sleeveless”cocoon” dress in red and black, plus a cool mock turtleneck top and matching slim skirt. The two-piece top and skirt will come in an animal print as well as solid black. I don’t expect any of these to be over $30.00 US. Watch for them. The collection also features cardigans, jeans, cargo pants and an empire hooded dress….plus an NK classic.
Wait for it.. the classic NK signature piece, her “sleeping bag coat” is coming to Walmart!!!! High five for Recessionistas everywhere!

Norma told The New York Times a great story about this coat earlier this year. The idea for the coat was born on a camping trip. “It was cold,” she recalled, “and I was always getting up at night to go to the bathroom.” On one particularly nippy night, she threw on her sleeping bag and sprinted for the bush. “As I was running,” she said, “I was thinking, ‘I need to put sleeves in this thing.’ ” Once again, necessity is the mother of invention!

The final bit of NK news is that she has started a new line of clothing to be sold exclusively on eBay. All pieces are under $300.00.
