Designer Site Gilt Groupe Launches International Sales

By  |

Here’s some good  news for my readers and savvy fashionistas from around the world. Shopping club Gilt Groupe has announced that it is now open to customers outside of the United States for shopping. The company’s e-commerce offering now extends to over 90 countries.  This is big news for customers, since clothing outside of the United States is typically more expensive (excepting chains like H&M.)  Countries now on the Gilt list for shopping and shipping include: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, most of Western Europe and Asia.  Check the Gilt website for full details.   If you’re interested in checking on the deals, click here to use my invite to join Gilt.    Every year I shop and send items to friends in the UK and Australia that they can’t buy in their countries at department stores or online, so this is very good news.

I’ve been a Gilt member since I started the blog in 2008, and have gotten some amazing deals on Gilt.

The international sites will offer the same daily flash sales on women’s, men’s and kids clothes and accessories, as well as home decor items.  Gilt has also expanded into selling food, wine and vacation deals. As my US readers know, each Gilt Groupe sale contains a limited amount of inventory and lasts about 36 hours. The trick to getting the discounts has always been to get in quick and shop, before it’s all gone, as there is no restocking. Most of the goods are sold when the sale first begins. The company’s recently launched luxury retail site for men, Park & Bond, is also now available to international customers next month.

Even easier, and more tempting too, in 2012,  Gilt members outside of the U.S. will now be able to shop and purchase from from their mobile devices like the iPad, iPhone and Android applications with Gilt’s mobile app.  How does Gilt plan to make all this work for 90 countries? They report that they are working with FiftyOne, an e-commerce platform, to process international transactions, currency conversion, and international delivery.  Have any of my international readers tried this yet? If so, I’d be curious to know how this works for you!
