Earth Day

Earth Day is April 22, 2014

Today is Earth Day, a time for all of us to think about our planet and try to conserve resources and recycle where we can.  I’ll be heading to H&M to recycle old clothes and Origins and Kiehl’s to recycle old cosmetic containers.  Here are some resources that I have found to help you do some recycling and savings to help Mother Earth.   If you know of other deals, leave a comment and share.

Coffee

Starbucks will pour you a free cup of coffee or tea if you bring in your reusable beverage holder, instead of using a disposable paper cup.   So remember your fashionable reusable mug (it’s a good day to use the Charlotte Ronson Starbucks mug) when you go to Starbucks today and save.

Caribou Coffee – Buy the Tumbler this month and get unlimited refills all of April.

Nordstroms– Stop by a Nordstrom eBars April 22 with a reusable mug for a free coffee or tea.

Eco Friendly Fashions.   H&M also has their new  Spring Conscious Collection of  fashions in stock made from recycled materials.  Bring in a bag of old clothes to recycle at your local H&M store then get a coupon to save on the new  Conscious Collection.    In New York, the new Time Square store is inviting customers in  from 11 – 7p in Union Square to get conscious. Recycle your old garments & receive a 15% off coupon.  H&M is offering Canadian customers a chance to share their garment recycling and be entered in a contest.

Beauty Deals.

Zoya Nail Polish Exchange – Dispose of your old nail polish and get a great deal on Zoya Nail Polish for $4.50 a bottle or $5 for the PixieDustT when using promotional code ZDAY2014.  Zoya Nail Polish is toxin-free.

Kiehl’s Recycling Deal – Bring in 10 empty, full-sized Keihl’s bottles and receive a free 2.5-ounce travel collection product. The Recycle and Be Rewarded Program runs all year long.

Origins is once again offering consumers a free Origins full size cleanser or moisturizer when they bring in their old make-up containers for recycling.  I did this last year. Origins accepts all empty cosmetic containers whether the empty containers are from Origins are another manufacturer.

Amazon is offering some free Kindle book downloads today

If you’re looking for suggestions on how to live consciously, here’s a tip  from our friends at Mint.com:

Ask an app for help. There are so many apps out there that can help you keep track of your eco footprint. One new one about to hit the market is Oroeco, it tracks your climate impact by automatically putting a carbon value on your purchases. Have you heard of BrightNest? It’s an app that gives you tips and tricks on how to go green around your house. Try out Virtual Water, it will help you become more aware of the water requirements of your diet. Think of what you can do for your budget and the planet if you combine Mint.com with any, or all, of these apps!
