The New York Post reports today that the future of fashion label William Rast is uncertain and may perhaps be sun setting soon.  I haven’t heard much buzz about the Los Angeles label founded by singer/actor Justin Timberlake & his best friend Trace Ayala in a while.  I was disappointed in their Target line and I haven’t seen many promotions for the brand recently, have you?  According to the New York Post, via an unnamed source, “Not a lot of retailers wanted it,” a source told us about the fall-off in sales. “Because the perception is [Justin’s] not involved, so why would anyone want to wear it?”  I think it’s way more than the issue of Justin’s name on garments.   The jeans and fashion  market is very competitive. Does the William Rast brand offer unique  garments that delight consumers? After all, the RTW line sold at Nordstroms and upscale boutiques was/is not cheap.

So what’ the future for William Rast?  According to the NY Post, the same source says Justin Timberlake will be detaching from the brand by year end, leaving his partner Trace Ayala to carry on or not.  Right now , you can still find William Rast on the racks at JC Penney, but for how long I wonder?
