Fashion Week: Badgley Mischka Fall 2015
Yesterday designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka showed the Badgley Mischka Fall 2015 Collection in the Theater at Lincoln Center. For me Badgley Mischka is always Cinderella time–their gowns are like the ultimate dream for any woman. This year’s collection was The collection was inspired by Spain, and in particular the Spanish bull fighting customs. The collection featured the baroque embellishment traditions of the matador combined with the severity and restraint of Modernist architecture – Blood and Sand meets The Fountainhead. This season, Badgley Mischka plays textures and dimension with prints and embellishment for a rich, informed luxury. Models glided down the runway in wearing Amy Winehouse vintage styled beehives and heavily made-up eyes.
When I watch a runway show like Badgley Mischka, I always think—this is aspirational fashion. Although the Fall collection is not on the racks, past Badgley Mischka fashions have sold for well over $500.00 per dress. You have to think, do I want to invest in this a piece I”ll wear again and again, or maybe just rent it or look for a fashion look a like. Being aware of your finances , how much is in your checking and savings accounts and how much debt you have, these are all facts that should go into luxury brand fashion buying decisions. Fortunately, there’s a new mobile app called MOVEN that can help you balance your finances before you become swept away by New York Fashion Week and go into full on shopaholic mode. You can check MOVEN on your mobile phone before you hit the buy button or carry it with you in to the store to shop to checkmate your spending. With MOVEN you know if you’re in the green or the red, whether you should save or splurge.
And once you know where your finances are at, you can make informed spending decisions. After checking my finances, I decided to look at deals on last season’s Badgley Mishka fashions and I found a terrific sale on IDEELI today.
