Actress Bryce Dallas Howard is a US size 6. –according to her, that means designers who dress the stars at Award ceremonies don’t have a lot of options for her. That’s because Ms. Howard is not a sample size 0 or 2, the more typical sizes (runway sizes that) designers loan to stars in exchange for promotion on the red carpet at the awards. Yes, even a size 4 is considered too big. Without a designer to loan her a dress, Ms. Howard bought a stunning Jenny Packham dress at Neiman Marcus. ‘I like having lots of options for a size six, as opposed to maybe one option, so I always go to department stores for this kind of stuff,’ said Bryce Dallas Howard of buying her Jenny Packham $4,800 dress at Neiman Marcus. “

This has happened before–there are actresses who always have to buy their own dresses for awards ceremonies because they don’t fit the sample size. Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills has always assisted these actresses and/ or their stylists. Most actresses just don’t mention it to the press. I have to admire Bryce Dallas Howard for sharing her story. A US size 6 is not a “big size” —but it’s not the size of the average runway model. Remember the line from”The Devil Wears Prada?” A size 6 “is the new fourteen” in the fashion world. Thanks to Dallas Bryce Howard for speaking out and making everyone aware how absurd this is!  (Kelly Osbourne has also spoken out on this topic, saying when she was heavier, many designers refused to dress her.)
