Inside M.A.C. Cosmetics Holiday Ready Heirloom Mix Collection
For the Holidays M.A.C Cosmetics has launched a new collection of festive make-up called the Heirloom collection. The advertising is very Marie Antoinette meets the millenium. M.A.C says the new Heirloom Collection puts a classic cameo in a contemporary, glittering light, mixing the irreverent with tradition. Recently, I received an inside look at the Heirloom products and color palette at a press preview for the collection. The collection features beautiful colors and gorgeous packaging with Cameos adorning each makeup container. At a recent press preview to launch the collection I had the chance to talk with M.A.C. cosmetics senior artist Cynthia Rivas and get the backstory behind the collection.
1. Tell us about the colors in the new Heirloom Mix Collection? Is this a new color palette for M∙A∙C?
The M∙A∙C Heirloom Mix collection is inspired by color that leaves a legacy. Sophistication. Smoky mauve, pearlized plum and sultry dark green eyes. Lips in deep purple berries, reds and violet w a blue glimmer. Decadently encased in refined black packaging collaged with silver sparkles.
2. What are the Fall Make-up Trends?
Fall/Winter 2014 is more about a play on textures, like shiny metallics in natural tones against beautiful semi matte skin. Color is present this season but a muted version of what we saw this summer. For example, instead of cherry reds you’ll see deep berries.

Choose a feature focus. You can create a classic looks with the M∙A∙C Heirloom Mix collection. Smokey metallic eyes with a nude lip or a bold lip color with neutral eyes.
4. What are the “Pressed Pigments” in this collection?
Pressed pigments are a gorgeous way to dress up your makeup this season! It’s pigment and reflects glitter pressed into an eye shadow pan that delivers full coverage with a dazzling sparkle that can be used on the eyes, lips and cheeks.
