iTunes offers Live Stream Movie of Concert for Bangladesh Free for the 40th Anniversary
40 years ago today, George Harrison asked the band to play. But it wasn’t the Beatles. It was Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, Ravi Shankar, Badfinger and a host of other top musicians who joined in a charity concert at Madison Square Gardens on Aug 1, 1971 to raise money to feed the starving people of India in Bangladesh. To commemorate this great concert, iTunes is offering everyone the chance to watch the concert streaming today, free of charge, in the iTunes store at: iTunes.com/Beatles. I’m listening to the concert over lunch today and really enjoying it. Watch for Billy Preston’s epic dance to “That’s the Way God Planned It.” Long before Michael Jackson moonwalked Billy broke it down.
Listen for free, but think about downloading the LP to benefit UNICEF and relieve the people of Bangladesh. They still need our help. The concert is a nice tribute to George Harrison, who organized it and bought all the artists together. For more information, visit ConcertforBangladesh.com
