One of my favorite places for shopping in London, the V&A aka the Victoria & Albert Museum has added to their extensive online offerings by opening the Fashion Shop. In addition to the online store, there’s also a brick and mortar Fashion Shop within the museum. The opening of the Fashion Shop celebrates the reopening of the V&A Fashion Galleries after architectural renovation, the re-hang of the permanent collection and this summer’s exhibition Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950. So what’s on sale in the shop? According to the Museum “trend-driven accessories and exclusive fashion.” I’ve been browsing the Fashion Shop online and it’s very impressive and some items are rather inexpensive (check out the fashion collars for £20.00, which is about $32.00.) There are items from designers Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Erdem and Yohji Yamamoto. There are also some amazing dresses from British brand Coast in the shop. Check out the Mindy dress, one of two (the other is the Amy dress pictured above) little black dresses that are replicated from the museums permanent collection. These seem to be inspired by Christian Dior’s 1950’s creations and they look fantastic.
