Living in Los Angeles,  I see a lot of Tadashi Shoji looks on the Hollywood Red Carpet.  Film star and client Carrie Preston was at the show this week at NYFW checking on the new collection.  For Spring/Summer 2012 Tadashi Shoji  showed a very feminine, sophisticated collection with bursts of spring colors.  Flowers, especially tulips are the inspiration for his new collection.  The collection offers a vibrant palette of flora in shades of fern, magnolia, rosebud, and willow infused in the exquisite fabrics of silk linen, embroidered lace, and draped tulle. When you look closely at the collection you can see hand painted brush strokes mirror the tulip’s unique petal markings and beading is sprinkled like dewdrops on a tulip petal.   After the show, the designer’s office sent over his six favorite looks (see photo above) from the collection.

As you can see, this versatile collection features daytime, cocktail and evening dresses.  The colors range from vibrant solids and prints to neutral and ivory. Details on the garments include floral appliqué,  lace and  beading.  Tadashi Shoji is a very upscale brand, but here’s a little secret. I have bought some of the pieces at Ideeli, Gilt Groupe and assorted sample sales.  Tadashi Shoji is sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstroms so you can also find the pieces there at the end of season sales. Whenever I find it, I post the deals here on The Recessionista.  Tadashi Shoji delivers well made, classic pieces you can invest in and wear for many years, delivering quality for price.
