Perfume Review: Liz Earle Botanical Essence Eau de Parfum No. 1 Arrives in the US
Good news for all of us who like a light, non overpowering summer scent: the Divine Liz Earle Botanical Essence Parfum No. 1 has just launched in the US. I couldn’t be happier about at long last being able to buy this outside the UK. If you haven’t heard of this scent, you definitely want to give it a whiff. It’s divine. I haven’t liked something the much since I discovered Chanel Cristalle. Even more astounding, this is 98% directly derived from natural ingredients; high-altitude lavender from France, damask rose from Turkey, Italian bergamot and spicy patchouli from Indonesia. This makes for a unique and intoxicating scent. It’s perfect for summer’s warm weather as a splash of Botanical Essence leaves you feeling refreshed, but in a light way. It’s hard to describe how fresh and light this scent is, the first thing that the nose detects is the citrus hints, via the Italian Bergamot smell. Later, the other notes steep in and you’ll sense notes of rose, then geramium and even cardomon. It’s quite an intense and revitalizing surprise. In 2009, the product won an award from the UK’s Grazia Magazine as one of the Hot 10 for 2009. It’s easy to see why Botanical Essence won the award. It offers a long lasting, fresh smelling, non-chemical fragrance that is very unique. It addition to offering a lovely scent, the natural essences like lavender are calming and promote stress relief. When asked if the parfum has any aromatherapeutic/therapeutic benefits, the refreshing answer is yes. Jennifer Hirsch, Botanical Research Manager, says, “Yes, our fragrance contains a blend of the highest quality pure essential oils including lavender oil, which is probably the most versatile oil used by aromatherapists for its calming, stress relieving and relaxing properties. Orange and lemon oils together with rose absolute are all renowned for their uplifting properties, while patchouli and geranium are more well known for their calming properties.:
I have known about this scent for awhile and have searched for it on eBay from eBay sellers willing to ship from the UK. But with the US launch, I was lucky enough to get a product sample from the manufacturer to review. What a pleasure to get a scent for review that is truly delectable. I am very particular about my parfums. However, it’s easy to love everything about Liz Earle from the packaging to the light scent. The Box the perfume comes in is meant to be kept to protect the natural ingredients from heat and light so it will last longer. According to the FAQs, “The fragrance should ideally be stored in its box and in a cool and dark place as heat and light may cause the fragrance to deteriorate.” I like that the box the parfum comes in is designed to preserve it’s life span. Remember to keep the box and store your perfume in it to preserve it’s lifespan.
Although it is a more little pricey, than I’d like at $78.00 for 50ml/1.6fl.oz , a small spritz does last a long time. For the money, you are also receiving quality, natural ingredients rather than harsh chemicals. All these factors, combine to make me give Liz Earle Botanical Essence a rave review. When I run out of the sample provided for this review, I will be buying more. Look for it online at lizearle.com, Fred Segal Santa Monica, and the Brownes & Co. Apothecary, Miami, Fl. And, of course, do check for it on eBay to see if you can find some sellers offering a good deal on it. Have any of you tried it? If so, leave a comment and let me know what you think.
