QVC Oscar Buzz Party Falls Flat

If you think Oscar parties are glamorous, then think again. Last night’s QVC Red Carpet party should have been called for rain. Held in a tent, in the muddy courtyard at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, QVC was broadcasting live. I was originally excited to be invited to this event, but not so excited to be there wading through the soggy outdoor courtyard in the cold and the wet.
Props to Kim and Kourtney Kardashian for honoring their commitments (although they were not outside in the rain working the tent) and showing up in high heels and thin dresses at the party to meet fans and plug their QVC wares. I love how Kourtney said she had to “Run across the street, like with a massive umbrella and almost got run over.” They really needed wellies and full on black rain slickers like this QVC member of the film crew was wearing in my picture below.

Sorry guys, I can’t tell you what great finds QVC has for Oscar season, because I couldn’t see any of them in person to judge their quality. There were no samples on display, and no goody bags distributed at the end of the night with any samples for review. I did see one of my favorite QVC designers, Marc Bouwer, exiting the party shortly after 7 pm as I was heading in. After struggling through the mud for about 30 min and getting drenched, I followed his good example. I took refuge across the street at one of my favorite LA restaurants, Il Cielo. Their patio was also tented, but happily rain proof and warm. Thanks to Virgil for the excellent Peartini.
