Red Carpet Ready with Splenda Sweet Swaps & a Twitter Party
It’s Oscar time here in Los Angeles. That means almost every actress in town is on a diet getting ready for Oscar parties, red carpet events or the ceremony itself. I haven’t been to one blogger party or event this week that didn’t feature healthy lifestyle products including this Splenda. I’ve been using Splenda quite a bit lately as part of my 2014 diet and fitness program. Choosing what you eat is as important as choosing what you wear or planning a budget. Did you know that experts recommend that women consume no more than 6 teaspoons of added sugar a day, yet the average American eats 22 teaspoons daily! Statistics show we’re all on sugar overload, from soft drinks to fast food, sugar is a key ingredient in so many foods. It’s important to read food labels and restaurant menus whether you’re getting red carpet ready or not. This week, I’m working with Splenda to help get the word out on healthy lifestyle choices and joining a Twitter party to share tips on using Splenda. You can join the Twitter Party too on March 4th at noon ET/9 am PT using the hashtag #Sweetswaps. Read on to learn how to join and share your tips, plus learn how to win some cool prizes.
Most of us vastly underestimate the amount of sugar we eat because the sweet stuff is buried in our everyday food choices. When you buy processed food/prepared food, have a scoop of ice cream or even add syrup to your latte, you’re adding sugar. Packaged cereals are loaded with sugar. If you research your food choices by just do a quick Internet search, then you can discover where the sugar is hiding and you can be more diligent about eating less sugar. Why is Splenda a good choice? Basically, because it offers fewer calories and fewer carbs than sugar. Each packet of SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener provides the same sweetness as two teaspoons of sugar. Each packet has less than 1 gram of carbohydrate and less than 5 calories, which meets FDA’s standards for no-calorie foods. In comparison, 2 teaspoons of sugar has 32 calories and 8.4 grams of carbohydrate.
I’ve swapped Splenda for sugar and I even carry the little yellow Splenda packets in my handbag so that I will never be without. Our family has been using Splenda in baking and cooking since my father was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago. We bake our Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie and sweet potato casserole with Splenda now. Our holiday dishes are every bit as flavorful as when we made them with sugar. Best of all, the Splenda brown sugar blend that we use in both recipes doesn’t stick together and clump like brown sugar does.
