Donatella is coming! Donatella is coming! You don’t need to be Paul Revere to sound this fashion cry! Yes, darlings, I’m talking about Donatella Versace (the designer who is sometimes the butt of unflattering portrayals on SNL.) H&M has just announced that Versace will be their latest Fall collection. I have no words. But wait, I found some words, er, questions really.  Will they (the House of Versace) Will they produce the Hollywood Bling and Zing the brand is known for (think J. Lo and Liz Hurley’s safety pin dress) or more mainstream pieces? Only a fashion fortune teller or Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M over in Sweden knows for sure.

Here’s what my spies tell me.  You can expect lots of leather, print, and colour in Versace for HM at affordable prices. The collection will include lines for women, men and selected pieces for the home (move over Missioni for Target).  The line will be available on 17 November in around 300 stores worldwide, plus…wait for it… on-line too.  I can hear the crash of the web server now 🙂  In addition, Donatella Versace has also designed a pre-spring collection for H&M which will be exclusively available in countries with H&M on-line sales from January 19, 2012.  Wow. It’s Versace for H&M Part Deux before we even see Part One.  The sequel is already in the works, so they expect it to be big.

Donatella, please call The Recessionista hotline! We need to know if Madonna will be the face of Versace for H&M.
