How important are the contributions from the HollyRod foundation to help these children?  According to actress and Autism Advocate, Holly Robinson Peete the funds generated go a long way to helping children with Autism.   “Last April, the funds generated from this collaboration helped to support various autism summer camps, social skills and adolescent prevocational programs around the country and in Canada,” said Holly Robinson Peete, HollyRod Foundation co-founder.  “We were also able to grant more than 100 tablets to non-verbal children with autism giving them the “Gift of Voice.”  This year, the partnership will allow us to serve even more children and their families, as they navigate autism’s day to day challenges.”

Personally, I will probably be buying every single piece from this collection and making a contribution to the  HollyRod Foundation and other Autism foundations (like Autism speaks)  this April during National Autism Awareness Month.  This is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.  My sweet little nephew Max suffers from Autism.  He was diagnosed at age 2 and has received special care since then.  Max is non-verbal and communicates with us via sign language and a voice communicator program on his Apple iPad and iPod.  To see how important special programs are to help these children, you can watch Max’s story in this video on YouTube.  Although Max is still non-verbal, he continues to make progress. He can read and write and he can now say a few words and sign many more.

In talking with  Jessica Herrin, Stella & Dot CEO and Founder, it is clear that  Austim Awareness and support is near and dear to the hearts  many members of the Stella & Dot community.  “Customers who want to Host a Trunk Show in April during our Autism giving campaign, can take very a simple action to make a big impact. Not only will we help raise funds, but we also raise awareness,” notes Ms.Herrin.
