Taylor Swift’s Grammy Look for Less: A Chic Chignon & Pendant Earrings
One of my favorite looks from last night’s Grammy Awards was Taylor Swift’s blue Kaufman Franco dress. She reminded me of a Jane Austen heroine with her delicate 18th century type bodice and straight line silhouette. Since she is only 20 years old, I loved that she chose such an age appropriate feminine look. It was a far cry from poor Britney’s “hooker wear” fish net stocking look. While there’s no substitute for a couture Kaufman Franco, some of Taylor’s look can be replicated at home. I’m talking about her delicate hair style and her tear drop (pear shaped) earrings.
First, let’s talk about the hair. As usual, I have to turn to Beverly Hills salon owner and Suave Celebrity Hairstylist Luke O’Connor for his tips. Luke recommends Suave’s Professionals’ performance products to re-create the gorgeous Grammy looks. I recently tried the Rosemary Mint shampoo (more on that later) and I highly recommend it. Now, back to Taylor’s hair. Here is how you can style your hair to look like her Grammy winning do.
To re-create Taylor’s Chic Chignon at home follow these easy steps:
- For smooth and frizz-free locks, prep hair with Suave Professionals Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner.
- Next, give hair body and control by applying Suave Professionals Extra Hold Styling Foam to damp hair. Blow dry the mousse into the hair in sections using a medium round brush to lock in volume. Unpin hair at the crown and blow dry in 1 inch sections using the round brush.
- Next, take two inch sections of hair and spiral wrap around a 1 inch curling iron to curl the large sections of hair.
- Finally, make a high side part at the center of the eyebrow and gather hair into a pony tail on the opposite side of the part. Loosely twist down to create a low chignon off to the side. Secure with pins and let loose pieces fall naturally for a look that’s effortlessly chic.
- Finish with Suave Professionals Extra Hold Hairspray to lock the style in place.
When you have a style this lovely, pulled back from the face in such delicate waves, it’s a good choice to pick some gorgeous earrings as Taylor did. Taylor’s twelve carat diamond pendant earrings were custom made by Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira. Lorraine, call me! 🙂 Please, I so luv that twelve carat diamond look.
While it’s hardly chic n’ cheap to rock earrings of this bling caliber, stylish pendant earrings can be found in a variety of shapes and sizes for much less. Consider these cute little earrings from Kohl’s Apt. 9 for a mere $11.20 US.
The Jacqueline Kennedy Reproduction Teardrop Tower Earrings also give you a classy look for less. If you’re feeling a little more like splurging for Valentine’s Day, point & click over to Amazon.com and look at all the real diamond pear shaped stunners at deep discounts.
Note: Taylor’s Grammy dress was designed by Kaufman Franco, not Dolce & Gabbana as previously reported. This post has been corrected.
