The Recessionista Reviews the Acura ILX
Recently The Recessionista accepted a special assignment in living the luxury life for less. Acura contacted our team about test driving (reviewing) their new luxury car, the Acura ILX for a week. Our people (me, myself & I) thought about it for a nano-second. We didn’t need a Powerpoint presentation or an hour long conference call to convince us. Driving in style has always appealed to Team Recessionista. For 10 years, I drove the Acura’s cousin, the Accord LX , all over the Midwest and even in snow storms. It was a good, steady reliable car. I’m not a mechanic or a car expert, nor do I play one on TV. And I didn’t stay at Holiday Inn Express last night, but I like a sleek ride. A car should be as treasured an accessory as a good handbag ( in my humble opinion.) So dear readers, I have this wonderful new car for a week here in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, it seems to be Monsoon season and a strong rain storm has moved in. I drove the car for 2 hours yesterday, and I only went 12 miles! This is driving in Los Angeles at it’s finest. So darlings, where should I go in this fabuless ride? Perhaps some shopping? Perhaps off to preview the new Neiman Marcus Target Holiday collection tomorrow at some ungodly hour of the morning? Maybe a trip to see the sights of Los Feliz. Then there’s the possibility of a spa trip. Yes a spa, inside and out of the rain– this could be the plan. Please help me by leaving comments here on The Recessionista and sharing your expertise about the best ways to spend a rain drenched weekend in Los Angeles.
In the next week, I’ll be posting on my Social Network via Twitter @Recessionista w/ the hashtag #weekwithILX to chronicle my adventures. I’ll also be sharing on my Facebook page, Pinterest boards and my Instagram picture feed @Recessionista. Now, here’s the most exciting part. If you, dear reader, follow my adventures and share my experiences, ultimately you could win a Acura of your own to test drive, and a chance to win some cool gift cards for your own holiday shopping. But you have to comment. The best comments will win a prize….stay tuned.
Meanwhile, let me leave you with the first thing I have learned and love about the Acura ILX. Wait for it…..you don’t need to put a car key in the ignition!! You only need to have the key with you. It can be in your coat pocket, your purse or MIA somewhere on your person. So long as the key is with you, and you can get into the car, you merely have to press a start button to go. I think this is genius. Why? Because, I have assorted devices to help me find my car keys like “purse fobs” and a big gold hook for my bag. Nevertheless, sometimes my keys go missing. They are buried deep within the dark recesses of my handbag. Oh the wasted time, searching, searching, searching for those keys. With the Acura ILX, the search has ended. I got a little tour of the car at the Carolina Inn at the Pinehurst Resort last week, and I can tell you, this car button is just one of many ingenious features. So follow along with me as I spend a week with the Acura ILX. And please, share in the comments where you think I should go for a ride in the Driving Rain. In the words of Paul McCartney, “One, two , three, four, five, let’s go for a ride….BABY!” 🙂 ”
FTC Disclosure: Acura has invited me to test the new ILX and share my honest thoughts through social media. I may receive product, access or content, but all commentary is my own.
