Thierry Mugler x H&M Collection Preview and Prices

H&M has announced a new collection featuring the designs of Thierry Mugler coming to their stores May 11.  This very 80’s looking collection features Thierry Mugler’s apparel and accessories for men and women. Will these  “revival” fashions entice today’s consumers to shop at H&M?

Mugler’s designs for women have featured fitted jackets with shoulder pads, cut-outs and plunging necklines.  Some of you may remember Thierry Mugler as the designer of Demi Moore’s famous black dress in the movie “Indecent Proposal.”  More recently, his figure hugging dresses have been worn by Kim Kardashian.

According to H&M, the Thierry Mugler H&M collection (curated by Casey Cadwallader) each piece “arrives with its own special label, featuring Thierry Mugler’s signature embodying the founder’s legacy, featuring a black velvet dress with a shaped waist, and puffed sleeves, a lace corset dress, a skirt suit with piercing details, and an acidic green tailored jacket. Accessories for this section, include boomerang-shaped earrings and a double brooch connected by a chain.”   The Thierry Mugler x H&M collection is scheduled to go on sale May 11 online at H&M.com and in select H&M stores worldwide.

What’s my take on Thierry Mugler x H&M?  I don’t see anything here worth lining up for.   I see plenty of Thierry Mugler at resale stores and even in thrift stores these days.  The prices for the Thierry Mugler x  H&M collection are reported to range from $49.99 US to $749.00.  Check stores like TheRealReal, 1st Dibs, eBay  and consignment stores for Thierry Mugler before you pay hundreds of dollars at H&M.
