UNIQLO Brings Back the Jil Saunder +J Collection
Here’s some great budget fashion new for fall: UNIQLO is bringing back a ‘Best of the +J collection’ on Oct. 3 in Philadelphia and at other locations and online on Oct. 10. The relaunch of the popular +J pieces is in “response to overwhelming customer demand.” The collection will range in price from $39.90 – $229.90. Some of you may recall that the original + J collections were sell-outs for UNIQLO and sold on eBay at greatly inflated prices. The reissue is neatly timed to coincide with the opening of new UNIQLO stores in Los Angeles, Orange County, Philadelphia and Boston.
According to UNIQLO ” +J grew to one of the most successful fashion collaborations of all time – elevating basic garments for functional, minimalist elegance, to suit any lifestyle.” Consumers who longed for Jil Saunder designs could finally buy them at reasonable prices.
UNIQLO’s ‘Best of the +J collection’ will reissue carefully selected garments from past seasons that capture the +J philosophy. The collection will include items such as the classic man’s button-down shirt, an indispensable building block for any wardrobe. The collection’s wool items such as sweaters and coats are rich in character, blending coziness with structure. Weightless and warm, +J’s signature down jackets and parkas remain subtle testaments to the perfection of technical outerwear. Throughout the+J collection, precision tailoring, avant-garde textiles and modern silhouettes combine to create the personal uniform for the world of today.
The collection will launch at UNIQLO stores in 15 markets globally, and will first launch exclusively in the U.S at UNIQLO’s new Chestnut Street store in Philadelphia, opening on October 3. The collection will be available online as well as at the following select UNIQLO locations, on October 10:
New York: Fifth Avenue, Soho and 34th Street
New Jersey: Garden State Plaza
San Francisco: Powell Street
Los Angeles: South Coast Plaza, Northridge (Opening September 26), Glendale Galleria (opening September 26), Beverly Center (opening October 10)
Boston: Legacy Place (opening October 24)
I’m excited to have a chance to shop this collection now that UNIQLO is opening stores in California, West Coasters might actually have a chance to get some +J. When the collection originally launched it was only at UNIQLO stores in New York, and people waited in long lines for it.
