It’s always a pleasure when we hear from Tracy Reese’s office about her plans and inspirations for New York Fashion Week (NYFW). There’s a reason Michelle Obama wears Tracy Reese’s colorful and affordable designs, they are simply gorgeous! This morning we received a sketch/sneak peak from the designer about what her collection for Spring 2013 is all about. Here’s the 411 on Tracy Reese Spring 2013. Ms. Reese will combine a variety of textures, patterns and details for an effortless collection of versatile silhouettes for Spring 2013. The collection is inspired by the rich range of hues found in David Hockney landscapes, with Ms. Reese’s color palette focused on foliage-inspired greens, complimented by cool blues, lilacs, tangerines and neutrals. “I played with the juxtaposition of organic and technical, soft and structured and sporty and feminine for an unexpected and refreshing collection,” notes Ms. Reese. “A quilted silk jacket in pert layered over a black burnout gauze shirt and a mentholescence stretch linen trouser, and paired with fringed sandal and clutch, creates an effortless look that is sophisticated yet relaxed.”
It’s great to hear the designer’s vision for this collection and the sketch does indeed embody effortless chic for the busy working woman. I’m very curious to see the mentholescence trousers. Seriously, that’s new word for me, but I generally like any trouser with stretch in it. I like the sketch, what do you think readers? I’ll be blogging and tweeting from the runway so stay tuned!
