The Limited Files Bankruptcy, Closes Website & Cancels Orders
Although their website proclaimed, this isn’t goodbye last week, the sad truth is that The Limited has closed both their brick and mortar stores and their website. Last week, The Limited, LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a Delaware Court. That means that The Limited, had to stop operating and has shuttered their website.
Visitors to their website are informed, “TheLimited.com is closed temporarily. All orders that have not already shipped, have been cancelled.” Although the website assures customers that orders that have not been shipped will not be charged,” if you made a purchase at The Limited online, do check your credit card statement.
In documents filed with the Delaware Bankruptcy Court, The Limited has proposed that “acquisition vehicle Limited IP Acquisition LLC is prepared to consummate a transaction for nearly $25.8 million in cash plus the assumption of executory contracts.” In simple terms this means The Limited is in the process of trying to sell its brand name and website/e-commerce assets.
Stay tuned as this saga continues, we’ll see if The Limited has a second act and gets a new company to acquire their remains. In the meantime, if you placed an order with them, be diligent about getting that order, or denying the charge on your credit card statement if it is not delivered to you.
