H&M Invites Customers to Recycle Fashions

By  |

H&M is kicking off the new year with a major garment recycling initiative.   Customers are invited bring in their old garments to H&M stores.  This is a great way to protect the environment and stop old clothing from piling up in land fills and causing more pollution and waste. H&M reports that 99% of the garments collected are reworn, recycled or reused.  Those are outstanding results.

So if you have an old garment that is stained, or my personal favorite, a garment irretrievably damaged by moth bites, pack it up and take it to the counter at your local H&M store to be repurposed.  Garments are accepted from any brand, not just H&M, in any condition.

According to H&M  for their “newest conscious initiative we made two new designs in 500 unique pieces – entirely out of used denim.”   H&M’s Conscious Collection is made from 20 to 30 percent “recycled garments from collected garments.’  It’s interesting to note, that not just fibers are recycled, but H&M also recycles the metals from buttons and zippers.

An added perk of the garment recycling at H&M stores is that recyclers are rewarded with a discount coupon towards the purchase of new fashions at H&M.
