Los Angeles: Opening Ceremony Fall 2017 Runway Show
Opening Ceremony premiered their Fall 2017 collection this weekend in Los Angeles at the MADE LA event downtown at LA Live. The presentation had a western theme and celebrated the brand’s 10 year anniversary of their Los Angeles retail store. The Opening Ceremony presentation was entitled a “Modern Western” and the collection is already available for pre-order on the Opening Ceremony website.
The “Modern Western” presentation was inspired by a”vision of the West without time- inspired by dunes, biker bars and the artists who made this landscape their own.” A faux fight between two of the models, who were also well known movie stunt woman, broke out after the show finale & added to the the Hollywood wild west theme. Opening Ceremony designers, and California natives, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim were inspired by Hollywood and action films, bringing that spirit of the outlaw to the fashion runway.
The casual Western inspired collection features plaids, rouched skirts, flare pants, baseball jerseys, a Letterman cardigan sweater, a pink diamond print tied dress and chiffon print separates.
One of the most striking pieces from the collection, and our personal favorite, is the print Western Style Kimono jacket with a striking custom scorpion print inspired by scenery from Arizona and New Mexico. The coat is available for pre-order for $495.00 US.
