The Duchess of Cambridge Won’t Be Wearing Kardashian Fashions
The Huffington Post and other news media have been reporting that Kim Kardashian (aka “her people”) sent the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middelton) a lovely package of Kardashian clothing from their British fashion line. How hilarious is that? Seriously. Princess Recessionista, the Duchess of Cambridge has always made thrifty fashion choices wearing high-street fashions (Zara, Whistles, Reiss and others.) But it’s a bit of a leap to thing that dressing frugally and wearing clothes more than once equates to dressing “cheap.” That’s the category I put the Kardashian fashions in cheap, but not chic. According to a palace insider, Ms. Kardashian sent the Duchess a package of her clothes from the Kardashian British line. The package was rumored to contain skintight sequin mini-dresses, pleather pants, blue leopard-print tops and gold-studded bags. As such, it comes as no surprise that Duchess hasn’t been spotted out at any events in the Kardashian frocks.
According to a palace insider, via a story in the uber reliable National Enquirer, “The Duchess gets free clothes sent to her every day of the week, and she always sends them back. The royal family is very careful about not being seen to endorse any product. It’s just not proper. Quite apart from that, the Kardashian outfits just aren’t appropriate for a duchess.” But here’s the final damning comment, “Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the queen in a cheap leopard-print miniskirt or gold sequined jacket!”
Yes, when hell freezes over, that’s when you’ll see the Princess in Kardashian. I would love to know how many clothes the Kardashian handlers sent over to the Palace and what the cost of this ill-fated public relations stunt was, wouldn’t you? What’s next, sending some Kardashian lingerie over to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall? Maybe some of Rob’s socks for Prince Charles?
