Celebrities Promote the Peter Pilotto for Target Fashion Collection

Target poured on the celebrity start power to help sell their upcoming Peter Pilotto for Target collection. The collection goes on sale Feb. 9th at Target and Net-a-Porter. Models and actress showed off the bright prints and spring colors despite the chilly temperatures in New York this fashion week. But just because Alex Chung wears it ( and is probably paid to wear it and make a party appearance) does that mean you should buy it?

The prints in this collection are very youthful and pretty. The price point is in the right range. Peter Pilotto for Target collection offers 60 pieces, ranging in price from $14.99 to $79.99 for apparel and swimwear, and $16.99 to $39.99 for accessories. To me, these clothes look cute very small and won’t look good on many women because the prints make you look bigger. I’ve seen Diane Kruger on the red carpet many times….and she looked a bit heavier in this collection than in her usual streamlined, elegant designer looks. And Diane Kruger is razor thin. So buyer beware on this collection. Fit is important when you are thinking of spending $50.00 on a dress. I love the joyful feeling of these prints, but I am not sure most women will look good in them because they are not going to offer a slimming fit. Generally pairing print with solid, as Alex Chung did, offers a fit that is flattering to most shapes and sizes. All over print can just produce a look that is way too busy. My advice, if you shop online at either Target or Net-a-Porter, order several sizes to see how the fit is. Order your usual size, and then the next size bigger , so you can check the fit. If you can, get to a Target store and try it on Sunday morning before the eBay sellers buy it all up for resale on eBay. Following the New York preview party, there are already listings on eBay for this collection. Remember, if the Target website goes down on Feb. 9th, you have the option to also buy on Net-a-Porter.
