Affordable Red Carpet Style: Lace on the Red Carpet

I don’t write that much about celebrity styles, because not much of it is truly affordable or accessible and you end up recommending knock-offs to people to get the look. But, I’m making an exception today to talk about two looks I love, that recently appeared on red carpets showing off the trend of lace overlaid cocktail dresses.  Both Angela Basset (at last night’s BET Awards) and Lisa Rinna (at the recent daytime Emmy’s) rocked this classic style which is back in Vogue.  Both stars choose fashions that are available off the rack at leading fashion retailers. The beautiful (and real looking) Angela Basset wore a cap sleeve scalloped v-neck black lace cocktail dress over midnight satin from THEIA’s Fall 2012 Collection ($495) last night here in Los Angeles at the BET Awards. I’ve had my eye on THEIA since Nora Jones wore one of his gorgeous dresses at the Grammy awards.

Lisa Rinna  showed off another variation on the lacey look at the Daytime Emmy Awards last week wearing a gown from THEIA’s Pre-Fall 2012 Collection. The black floral lace cap sleeve gown features a scalloped v-neckline neckline, key hole back and satin belt. The dress is currently available on Saks.com for $995. Of course, you can find imitations of the lacey look everywhere from H&M to ASOS, but for the real deal from THEIA, check out the sales at Neiman Marcus, Saks and shopping club RueLaLa.  I always post on the RueLaLa sales on THEIA (which there have been quite a few of) so watch this space for the deals.  This is one look you don’t have to be rich as Rockefeller to rock. 🙂
