Burberry to Receive Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award
The maker of the world’s best known trench coat, Burberry, will be honored with the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style® Award on November 19, 2014 in Beverly Hills. The award is the Los Angeles’ equivalent of an Oscar for fashion. The Rodeo Drive Walk of Style celebrates style legends for contributions to the worlds of fashion and entertainment. Burberry will be the twenty-second honoree. The British luxury brand deserves this honor, they weathered the great recession, maintained their quality (while so many others have not) and they continue to produce beautiful, classic clothes.
Ironically , the Burberry store is not on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but across the street on Wilshire. But visitors to Rodeo Drive will now see a bronze plaque in the sidewalk of the world-renowned shopping mecca of Rodeo Drive featuring the Burberry core values, ‘Protect. Explore. Inspire.’, as well as the signature of the company’s founder Thomas Burberry. Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey ( and social media aficionado) will be accepting the award on behalf of Burberry at the ceremony in Los Angeles.
“Beverly Hills is proud to honor Burberry with the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award,” said Beverly Hills Mayor, Lili Bosse. “Burberry is a timeless brand, but they have found the perfect balance of maintaining their distinctive heritage while creating collections that appeal to today’s modern consumer.”
Founded in 1856, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a distinctive British identity. Over the decades, the brand has continuously delivered craftsmanship, innovation and design. Since the invention of gabardine by Thomas Burberry more than 150 years ago, outerwear has been at the core of the business, including the iconic Burberry trench coat.
“Burberry is an iconic brand for revered outerwear and unique designs across the globe,” says Rodeo Drive Walk of Style® Selection Committee Chairman Wanda McDaniel. “Burberry is just as influential and relevant in this century, as it was when it began, and not many brands have such a longstanding pedigree. It’s a true testament to Burberry’s quality and style.”
Previous Rodeo Drive Walk of Style recipients have been Princess Grace of Monaco, Iman and Missoni. Here’s looking forward to the ceremony on Nov. 19th in Beverly Hills. Bravo Burberry!
