Columbus Day is Monday, Oct. 8, 2018.   In California, this will now be a celebration of Indigenous Peoples’ (Native Americans.) Personally, I prefer celebrating Native Americans rather than the tyrant Christopher Columbus,  who discovered the “new world.” Despite the tyranny of Columbus, in the US retailers are still naming special sales after the explorer.  I don’t know how special these sales really are. After all, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are just around the corner.  The only thing for sure is that temperatures are probably a bit warmer on Columbus day, in case you are doing some of your shopping at an open air mall.
