I don’t like to talk too much about what celebrities wear on the red carpet here on The Recesssionista. Sometimes their looks are not worth imitating, no matter the price of the dress or the jewelry. Also, celebrities are dressed not always for style, but sometime to garner the attention of the cameras. They are vying for their latest photo opp with all the other celebrities, and sometimes that means adding in a big old dose of shock value. Cher was a master of this. But I have to make an exception for some of the classic looks from last night’s red carpet walk. Carrie Underwood, last night’s winner at People’s Choice Awards for the Favorite Country Music Artist showed classic good taste. She looked terrific in her strapless netted dress with nude slip and strappy black heels. Even more eye catching was all her bling. Carrie was sporting a custom made $150,000 engagement ring with a beautiful yellow diamond by Johnathon Arndt. On her ears, she wore some gorgeous diamond drop earrings. Check out her jewelry and their less expensive doppelgangers from FantasyJewelryBox.com. This cute site has been featured in People Style Watch for their fabuless looks. Below are their versions of Carrie’s pieces. To get FantasyJewelryBox’s version of Carrie’s ring for even less, enter Coupon Code RINGNY15 at the checkout. This will save you $5.00! Pictured: Low priced versions of Carrie’s bling, the ring is $37.95 and the earrings are $ 59.95.

The other look I loved from last night’s awards was actress Sandra Bullock. Her look was chic and simple. She wore no statement necklace and just little stud earrings. Her only piece of bling was a chunky gold bracelet.

Pictured: Sandra Bullock’s lack of bling at the People’s Choice Awards showed a more minimalist style. She won for Favorite Movie Actress.

Sandra’s streamlined look included a Vivienne Westwood dress accessorized with a brown crocodile Ferragamo clutch (the minaudiere), her coveted Brian Atwood “Maniac” heels and a simple gold bracelet. Check out this $30.00 antique gold bracelet from Jessica Elliot similar to what Sandra wore.
