Sofia Vergara in a Lorraine Schwartz Blue  Stone Necklace with Diamonds

Did you watch the Golden Globes this year? Judging by the comments on Twitter, many of you were tuned in and expressing your fashion opinions!   I thought this year’s red carpet was very tasteful.   There were some gorgeous couture dresses accented with stunning and expensive jewelry.  This year’s fashion pageant included  some great statement necklaces and stunning diamond earrings on our fashion favorites.  We thought it might be fun to take a look at some of the gorgeous jewelry on display and match it with lower priced, affordable costume pieces.Let’s start with Sofia Vergara. She wore a ginormous Zac Posen black gown with an exquisite Lorraine Schwartz statement necklace of blue flowers intertwined from diamonds.  This look was over  the top, but so is she! I liked the blue necklace as a compliment to the basic black.  This is a great way to perk up a little black dress. Check out Icing’s Shiny Stone Teardrop Necklace at $20.00 as a chic n’ cheap way to get the look.

Margot Robbie topped off her Gucci gown with a bit of bling.

Margot Robbie looked dazzling in a white Gucci gown with embellishments.   Her gorgeous diamond hope earrings were stunning.  For the look for less, check out the Diamond Clips from Designs by Millo, Freida Rothman’s Crystal Hoops on Amazon or the Blossom Box CZ Half-Moon earrings on Last Call for $45.00 US.

Cate Blanchett shone in  an Armani Prive  gown and Chopard Diamond Circle Leaf Earrings.

Cate Blanchett looked gorgeous in an Armani Prive dress paired with stunning Chopard earrings.  Her jewelry was not only beautiful but environmentally responsible.  Her Chopard diamonds were part of  Eco-Age’s Green Carpet Challenge, an initiative designed to raise ethical fashion’s profile on the red carpet.  Ms. Blanchett’s vintage looking wreath-shaped earrings,  were a collaboration  between  Chopard and the Responsible Jewelry Council.  The earrings were made of certified marquise-cut diamonds and Fairmined gold from small-scale community mines in South America.  These earrings were one of my favorite accessories from the Globes.  We aren’t all lucky enough to be loaned gorgeous diamonds from luxury jeweler Chopard, but there are a few low priced options that bare a  faint resemblance.  Check out Charming Charlie’s Icarus Earrings for a mere  $8.00. The Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl’s has a pair of openwork leaf stud earrings with  simulated crystals for $14.00 US.

Emma Roberts Globes 2014

Emma Roberts had a very pair downed look at the Globes. Like Sofia Veraga, she paired a black dress with some eye catching blue jewelry. She wore a Lanvin gown accessorized with turquoise chandelier earrings by Hollywood favorite Neil Lane.  Costume jeweler Kendra Scott offers a similar design with her Glisten Mixed Stone ‘Dahlia’ Tiered Earrings.  Look for Kendra Scott designs at Bluefly, Nordstrom and of course Kendra Scott boutiques.
