Gwyneth Paltrow arriving in New York last week for the BlogHer conference via goop’s Instagram.

So a number of you have asked did I hear Gwyneth Paltrow’s session at the recent BlogHer conference. If so, what did I think. Well, a couple of things.  First, honestly, it’s rather ironic that BlogHer invited her in, because despite her celebrity Gwyneth is not beloved in the blogging community.  There’s a feeling that she may have been “inspired” by other bloggers in creating her goop website.   There’s also a feeling that her beauty recommendations are not alway attainable.   However, despite winning many acting accolades including an Oscar, Ms. Paltrow now seems much more interested in running her lifestyle website and e-Commerce shopping platform than in her acting career.

She spoke of goop as now being very much her primary focus.  She also indicated she is very hands on with goop.  For me, that’s a bit of a reach as she has hired staff to help her build and monetize goop, but perhaps she does oversee everything.   One thing I found interesting is that the outfit she wore at BlogHer –Thakoon Shorts and Philip Lim boots— was available for sale on the goop website, and that information was posted on the goop social media channels during her conference appearance.  The blazer, blouse and Celine blue handbag that she wore were not for sale on goop, so they didn’t receive a social media shout out.  Any celebrity doing paid appearances and then using  social media to sell the clothes is one-upping all the fashion bloggers by far. And making way more money too.

As Ms. Paltrow moves forward with the goop brand she revealed that her next undertaking will be bringing a line of organic skincare to market in 2016.
