The Blogger Models from the BlogHer13 Fashion Show

Last week at the annual BlogHer conference, several bloggers participated in the conference’s fashion show sponsored by ULTA.  The show was hosted by  bloggers and conference speakers Luvvie  Ajayi of  AWESOMELY LUVVIE & Patrice Yursik of AFROBELLA.  What made the BlogHer fashion show different is that it offered a unique showcase of styles for a variety of body sizes and tastes.   I thought it might be fun to spotlight some of the models and the fashions they wore.  Some of the brands and designers you may have heard of (Nicole Miller, Rebecca Minkoff) and others like plus size brand Monif C you will want to get to know.   Following are few of the show’s standouts.

Ashley Luchess BLOGHER13

Blogger Ashley Luchess in a DVF blouse and Nicole Miller dress

Ashley Luchess stepped out on the runway in a Diane Von Furstenberg print blouse with yellow shell patterned paired with a black and print Nicole Miller dress,  JJ Winters white python bag, from Cinnamon Boutique.  She finished her outfit with a pair of Diffusion Senso white and clear sandals from Lori’s Shoes in Chicago.

Elaine Griffin in a Monif C Dress

Elaine Griffin of Elaine Griffin Designs stepped out in a Monif C tan cape gown  with bat wing designed sleeves, a high waist and a slim silhouette paired with a floppy hat from Lori’s shoes in Chicago.  The shoes were supplied by Jeffrey Campbell black d’Orsay shoes from A Pied.   The whole ensemble just worked and it reminded me of some of Norma Kamali’s vintage jersey dresses with the wide bat wing sleeves.

Luvvie-Ajayi-BLOGHER

Blogger Luvvie Ajayi showed flapper flair in a beaded cocktail dress

Luvvie Ajayi showed off one of this year hottest trends with a 1920’s styled Gatsby like, flapper cocktail dress.   The dress was accented with tiny beads and feathers for fringe at the hem for just the appropriate flapper Charleston like twist.  The cream and sequin flapper dress with feathers was from Chicago’s Cinnamon Boutique.  The dress was paired with Steve Madden gunmetal sandals from Lori’s Shoes plus a Banana Republic turquoise, gold and white statement necklace.

Grace Hwang showed off a hot summer look in a Dolce Vita black and python print dress

Grace Hwang walked the runway in an affordable Dolce Vita black and python print dress from Mint Julep , red pumps from Lori’s Shoes, and a Joanna Laura blue and red tribal necklace. The dress is a great look for hot summer weather.

Patrice-Yursik-Monif-C

Patrice Yursik of Afrobella in a striking Monif C Maxi dress

Patrice Yursik looked striking a striped Monif C striped maxi dress with cut-outs on the bodice and the shoulders.  The dress is Monif C’s “Lourdes Cold Shoulder Stripe Maxi Dress” priced at $198.00 .  This is really a great looking dress and the stripes are designed to skim the figure and accentuate curves.  I also like the peek-a-boo cut outs that show just a hint of skin.   I’d never heard of Monif C before the blogger fashion show, but this is one brand I will be watching from now on.  If you’re looking for great plus size fashions check out their site and their sale.

One thing the BlogHer fashion show had that you’ll never see at New York Fashion Week is smiles on the runway models.  And fun! To see all the models and their looks, check the BlogHer site for the complete style and fashion look book.
