H&M Announces Plans to Show at Paris Fashion Week
British Vogue reports that “H&M will hold its first fashion show in eight years on February 27 during Paris Fashion Week.” According to Vogue, the runway show will present 25 looks H&Ms autumn/winter 2013-14 collection. Ironically, H&M, once looked down upon by the world of haute couture, will show at the same venue where Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior have shown collections: the grand Musée Rodin.
“We felt excited about the collection and we really wanted to show it,” spokesman Håcan Andersson told Women’s Wear Daily (WWD.)
H&M hasn’t been seen at a fashion week show since they presented in New York in 2005, so this is exciting. I’m not aware of any other “discount” retailer showing at Paris Fashion Week, so this is indeed exciting. The fashion industry is indeed changing.
Other high street retailers set to show during the upcoming fashion weeks in include Topshop at London Fashion Week and Whistles (a favorite of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.) It’s a recessionista revolution.
