Designer Rebecca Taylor introduces La Vie, a casual fashion line.

Designer Rebecca Taylor has launched a new lower priced fashion collection simply entitled “La Vie.”  If you are a fan of Rebecca Taylor, as I am, this is good news since the price point for La Vie is significantly lower than the designer’s boutique line.  La Vie is all about casual chic for fall, offering denim, coats and Edwardian styled cotton shirts. “I wanted to create a collection that felt relaxed and slightly undone, yet still maintained a sense of casual cool,” said Ms. Taylor about the inspiration for the French named collection.

The 13 piece collection offers vintage washed denim, poplin ruffled blouses, boucle sweaters, printed tees, and pea coats.  Prices start at under $100, with printed tee priced at $95.00.  According to Ms. Taylor, the collection is designed for everyday wear.  Denim is the mainstay of the collection, with three different types of jeans: “Clemence” a straight legged pair of jeans; “Beatrice” a cropped, high-rise jean in faded blue or off-white; and “Amelie” a patchwork jean.

Celebrities joined Rebecca Taylor last night in New York to celebrate the launch of the collection which is now for sale on Shopbop, Nordstrom and the designer’s own website.  The launch party was a perfect build-up to New York Fashion.  See below for more images of  Rebecca Taylor’s La Vie collection.  These are good-looking clothes, but they will have stiff competition from brands like H&M with their jeans and similar ruffled cotton blouses priced at under $15.00.
